The South Jakarta Environmental (LH) Sub-agency is optimizing a pontoon (a plastic cube-shaped waste barrier) in order to block waste flowing in rivers and streams in South Jakarta area, one of which is Krukut River.
"We've instructed the Water Agency UPK to monitor the pontoon along Krukut River," expressed South Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head, M. Amin, Tuesday (10/20).
15 Joint Officers Sent to Handle Puddles on Jalan Pintu I TMIIThus far as many as 13 units of pontoons had been attached in the river that crossed Jagakarsa, Setiabudi, Mampang Prapatan, Kebayoran Baru and Cilandak sub-districts.
"This is our way to block waste in the river thus the officers just need to transport them manually or by heavy equipment," he told.
To transport the waste, he explained, two heavy equipments type spider had been prepared on Jalan Brigif III and Pondok Labu.
As a result, every day, more than 25 tons of wastes were transported from each pontoon point.
"During the rainy season, it is very important as an insulator for waste. For this reason, I ask for regular monitoring and more intense waste transportation," he stated.
